  • All equipment will be provided.

Parking

  • Students can park on the de Havilland campus on Sunday 30 October for the tournament as students do not need to pay for parking on weekends, bank holidays or University closure days. For more information on parking, please click here

Tournament Format

  • The tournament structure will be confirmed at a briefing post team and player registration prior to the start of the tournament.

  • Points will be awarded as follows for group matches:

              Win - 3 points                 Loss - 0 points

  • If a match ends in a draw, then a super over will be played and the team with the highest score at the end will be deemed the winners.

  • League placements will be determined by point, run difference and then head-to-head result.

  • All fixtures will be played in sports halls 2 and 3 at Hertfordshire Sports Village on the de Havilland campus.

Pre-Tournament Requirements

  • Each individual team will be permitted to register up to a maximum of 10 players (male or female).

  • All teams should enter their team via the Playwaze app by paying the £30 entry fee by 23:59 on Tuesday 25 October. All players must be listed under their set team by the player registration at 10:00 on Sunday 30 October.

  • Teams are required to arrive at Hertfordshire Sports Village on the de Havilland campus to register at 10:00 ahead of a player briefing at 10:20. The tournament will run throughout the day on the 30 October from 10:00 - 17:00.

  • All teams MUST have arrived and registered ahead of the 10:20 player briefing and subsequent group photo.

Tournament Rules and Regulations

  • Spectators must spectate from the balcony at Hertfordshire Sports Village.

  • Only current University of Hertfordshire students can participate in the tournament.

  • Players are required to show their student ID card at the start of the tournament. Failure to show a valid ID card could result in that student not being able to play their fixture.

  • Each team captain will be responsible for ensuring only registered players take part in fixtures. Players can only play for one team throughout the tournament. Involvement of ineligible (or non-student) players will result in a deduction of 3 points and the loss of the match.

  • All start times and fixtures will be confirmed on the day at the pre-tournament briefing.

  • All matches are to be played on the date and time stated at the pre-tournament briefing.

  • The umpire will be instructed to start the match at the allotted time. A team must take to the pitch if there are 6 or more players present. It is the team captain’s responsibility to get players on the pitch ready for the start. Any delay to the start of the game to allow for players arriving late is at the discretion of the tournament organiser. If, after this time, a team has 5 or less players then the opposition will be awarded the win.

  • All matches will be played in line with the rules stated below. Outside of the rules below, we will refer to standard ECB indoor rules which you can view by clicking here

  • Umpires will allow replacement players when a player has been injured or become ill, after the nomination of the players at the start of the game.

  • Squads can consist of a maximum of 10 players with 8 players playing at a time.

  • Only 10 players are allowed in the playing area during a match (8 fielders and 2 batsmen). Remaining batsmen must stand outside the playing area at the door ready to enter when they need to swap.

  • Every team will need to provide a team/score sheet with the order of bowlers and batsmen to the umpire at the start of each match. This order can change between matches but not during a match (apart from for injury).

  • Five six-ball overs per side.

  • Teams can choose five bowlers to bowl one over each. The other 3 team members not selected to bowl must open batting. Players will be required to bowl overarm; no chucking / throwing when bowling will be allowed.

  • Runs will be allocated as follows:

  • 1 run each time batsmen physically run between the wickets

  • 2 runs for hitting a side wall or the wall behind the wicketkeeper in addition to 1 run each time batsmen physically run between the wickets

  • 4 runs for hitting the wall behind the bowler if the ball touches the ground or side wall before hitting the wall

  • 6 runs for hitting the wall behind the bowler if the ball does not touch the floor or side wall first

  • 3 runs for a wide / no ball and the ball is not re-bowled

  • If the ball bounces off the side walls and is caught one handed, a player is out. This is only applicable on the side walls.

  • A batsman is out if they hit the ball onto the balcony.

  • If a team loses four wickets within their five overs, the last player continues batting with the seventh out player remaining at the wicket as a non-striker.

  • Normal cricket rules will be played for the final over so that teams cannot fix the results.

  • Indoor cricket balls will be used for matches.

  • A player, bowler and batsmen of the tournament will be announced at the end of the tournament. Further details on how these will be selected will be announced in the pre-tournament briefing prior to the start of the tournament.

  • Wherever possible the tournament organisers will provide qualified umpires. In the event this is not possible, experienced players will officiate matches.

  • Players in Club Sport Cricket will be expected to maintain appropriate standards of behaviour. Failure in players maintaining the appropriate standards of behaviour could result in the HertSquad Team taking relevant action (where applicable to the University) and seeking to impose sanctions where appropriate to the behaviour / incident.

  • Please be aware that the tournament organiser's decisions are final.

Post-Match Requirements

  • Each team captain is required to sign the umpire’s scorecard post-match which should then be handed to the tournament organiser straight away.

  • Any complaints must be made in writing to the HertSquad Office within 24 hours of the tournament.

N.B. These tournament rules may be subject to change at any time. Team captains will be informed by email of any alterations at the first available opportunity.
