We are recruiting for HertSquad Sports Activators 25/26

We are looking for students who can be the friendly face of HertSquad!

Working for HertSquad offers a number of opportunities to gain exciting work experience and to enhance University students' experience in sport and physical activity. This is a paid role and hours will vary due to the nature of the programme. Typically, Activators will work between 4-10 hours per week across daytimes, evenings, and weekends

*Please note this position is only available to students studying in Semester A and B at the University of Hertfordshire for the 2025-2026 academic year*

What are some of the duties of a HertSquad Sports Activator?

Duties for Both Sports Activator - Active and Club Sport Roles
  • Welcome, interact, support and enthuse participants to get involved in sport and physical activity sessions, guaranteeing they have a great experience
  • Attend and contribute to weekly in person team meetings
  • Scan University ID cards at each session using our app
  • Ensure sessions are safe, fun and an inclusive environment (training will be provided)
  • Administer first aid when required (training will be provided)
  • Promote sessions and events via face-to-face and digital platforms
  • Monitor and report to the HertSquad Team the number of participants involved in the sessions / events delivered
  • Attend key events to promote all opportunities and signpost students to the appropriate HertSquad activity.
  • Any other duties linked to the HertSquad Active programme as required

Please note Sports Activators facilitate our sessions and are not coaches.

 

Duties for Sports Activator - Active
  • Set up and lead a variety of sessions for UH students and staff
  • Support participants to learn the basics of the sports and activities on offer
  • Support instructors at instructor lead sessions

 

Duties for Sports Activator - Club Sport (Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Netball and Volleyball)

  • Coordinate regular weekly turn up and play sessions, leagues, semesterly tournaments and community programmes (where applicable)
  • Facilitate and officiate matches as and when required
  • Attend continuous professional development events as and when required

To be considered for this role all applicants must be available between Monday 12 - Friday 16 May 2025, 09:00 - 17:00 for in-person recruitment course (Community Sports Leaders Award) on the de Havilland campus.
